The U15A’s progress to the next round of the National Vase competition with a performance that didn’t quite reach the standard of the weekend but was a convincing win all the same.

The U15A’s prevailed in a scrappy, fragmented, penalty ridden game with some powerful running and resolute defence when necessary. Much of the first half was played deep in the Wrekin half following some powerful running. Again, Oscar Smith-Canham proved unstoppable from a scrum, five metres out, and Tom Coton balanced his game well combining some powerful running and good footwork to score under the posts. Paddy FitzGerald score an opportunists try from close range from a turnover, Sam Clarke added two of the three conversions. Wrekin were held up over the Denstone line late in the half after numerous penalties were conceded but the score line read Wrekin 0 Denstone 19 at the break.

Denstone added a further five tries after the interval. Tom Coton scored three long range efforts, displaying good speed and elusive running. Magnus Brown also scored, identifying the space after numerous phases and Oscar Smith-Canham scored his second after the Wrekin defence was stretched, the ball was distributed wide with two players queueing up to score. Sam Clarke scored four out of the five conversions for the score to finish Wrekin 0 Denstone 52.
