Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School 1st XV vs  Bolton School Boys Division
On: Saturday, 01 Oct 2016
Venue: Away

A number of changes from the midweek cup win in both personnel and positionally gave an opportunity for a number of players to stake a claim and also gain some valuable experience in the 1st team.

The result was a foregone conclusion after only 10 minutes as three quick tries set the tone for a dominant performance. In all 12 tries were scored, Tomek Pozniak went over for a hat trick, Ben Manton picked up a brace along with Ruaidhri Power and there was one each for Connor Rutherford, Alex Hull, Kofi Nuamah, Joe Blood and a 40m trundle for Abdul Khan. The pick of the bunch was a fantastic team try which started well inside our own half and after several passes and offloads was finished off by Alex Hull under the posts. Joe Blood continued his excellent kicking form with 11 conversions to give him a haul of 27 points in the match.

There were a number of positive performances especially from Rob Jones in the second row, Harry Meir at hooker and Ruadhri Power who played the first half at centre rather than his accustomed 10. But the Man of the Match award goes to year 11 Tom Pye who on debut played outstandingly well, not looking out of place in the back row he continually carried strongly, tackled his heart out and linked intelligently with the backs.
