Match Report
Sherborne Girls 1st Team vs  Canford School
On: Saturday, 19 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Sherborne took on Canford today in what we new would be an extremely tough match. Canford are are strong, drilled, experienced team with some of their girls playing netball since September as a team. Sherborne were determined to make it hard for Canford and they did not disappoint.

Right from the first whistle both teams were contesting for possession and the game was quick and skilful, with both teams having some dynamic and explosive phases of play. Our shooters worked well in the circle despite relentless pressure from the opposites circle defence. Changes at half time saw Alice move into GK so she could use her knowledge of the GS position to her advantage and make it difficult for Canford’s GS- who was commanding their attacking circle. Ella came onto WA as our impact player, to lift our teams spirit and inject some assertiveness and dynamism back into our game.

In the third quater we knew we needed to apply the pressure and take to the court with our heads held high and that we needed to be confident. Sherborne continued to work together and managed to keep the score within 10 after three quaters. With our GK not available as she was at GB sprint training; the girls adapted well with some players playing out of position.

I am so proud of every player today and how they demonstrated their resilience and commitment to each other. Girls- your work rate was outstanding and I could not have asked for more from any one of you. You are a perfect example of how Netball should be played, well done all. Special thank you to our supporters on the sideline who make all the difference.
