Match Report
Sherborne Girls 1st Team vs  King's College, Taunton
On: Saturday, 02 Mar 2019
Venue: at Home

So it arrives again, my favourite day of the week spent with the exceptionally talented players that make up Sherborne Girls’ first Netball team. They faced Kings Taunton today with an earlier than usual start time of 1:45pm.

As always Sherborne completed a dynamic and focused warm up and were ready and raring to go. With our squad out in full force, our game plan was to use lots of rotations and bring on fresh legs each quarter.

The first quarter started slowly for Sherborne, we were a bit too static which enabled Kings to take the lead. As always our defensive play was strong, keeping us in the game and leaving us only 2 behind at quarter time. With changes every quarter, Sheborne were hungry for the win and started to pull away from Kings and managed to increase the lead to 9 goals. Both teams really raised their game in the final quarter and it was a nail biting couple of minutes with some unforced errors from Sherborne and strong defence from the opposition, allowing Kings to get within one goal. Emily was unshakeable in defence and kept the pressure on Kings’ shooters with Tilly hungry for interceptions and continually turning the ball over, which eventually denyed Kings their opportunity to bring the scores to level. Our attack worked fearlessly bringing the ball down to our shooters who converted to goal, increasing Sherborne’s lead once again. The final score was 35-31 to Sherborne and this was another fantastic display of Netball with both teams really competing and making this an exciting and positive game to watch.

Thank you to Kings for making the journey and giving us a strong, extremely competitive game and as always to our supporters on the sideline who really drive and motivate the girls on court.
