Bloxham School Junior Colts A XV vs  St Albans School
On: Thursday, 28 Nov 2013
Venue: at Home

Bloxham's Junior Colts joined the 1st XV in reaching Round 6 of the NatWest Cup with an impressively controlled performance against a strong and committed St Albans side, winning a tight game 18-0. Under the watchful eye of their coach, England international back Amber Reed, Bloxham started strongly and did not panic when only 3-0 up after 20 minutes thanks to a combination of sterling defence from the visitors and some dubious Bloxham options close to the line. A try in the corner for bustling prop Sam Fletcher put Bloxham 8-0 up at the break but St Albans ended the half the stronger and the result was still in doubt. Bloxham went further in front with a try from Will Brown from a scrum close to the posts (going for the scrum from a penalty was a brave option from captain Oliver Kilgallon!). this was converted by Jonty Russell-Rayment, who also kicked a second penalty of the game late on to put the result beyond doubt despite some frantic scenes and a sin-binning for Bloxham in the last few minutes. Bloxham's back row of Kilgallon, Brown and Tarquin Hathaway was outstanding throughout and their centres both made vital contributions, Max Sutton with some brave tackles and Jake Manning with some excellent tactical kicking. George Morley suffered a nasty shoulder injury in the second half and it is to be hoped that this is not too serious. Bloxham's reward is a 6th round tie at home against Aylesbury Grammar School, in December and after their wins there against Stowe, St Edwards and now St Albans they are likely to want to face AGS on their Strawberry Terrace bastion.
