Match Report
Bloxham School 1st XV vs  Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood
On: Saturday, 12 Nov 2016
Venue: at Home

The 1st XV continue to go from strength to strength, their latest win being an excellent home win against Merchant Taylors'. A winning margin of 31-0 might suggest a one-sided game, but they had to work hard to subdue a good Merchant Taylors’ outfit and only reached half-time 7-0 from an Alfie Barbeary try after dominating possession in the first half. After the interval Bloxham asserted control up front as the away side tired, and further tries were added by Ollie Kilgallon and Freddie Betteridge as well as a further score for Alfie, who has now scored tries in nine consecutive school matches, a remarkable record. All four tries were converted by Jake Manning, who added a penalty and was in imperious place kicking form all afternoon as well as controlling play through some excellent kicking out of hand. This was an impressively efficient performance in difficult conditions, with some excellent defence and another powerful performance from the pack, and the team now have a record of eight wins from ten matches thus far.
