Match Report
Scotch College 1st XV vs  Christ Church Grammar School
On: Thursday, 30 May 2019
Venue: at Home

Scotch came out of the first half ready to play the game with Christ Church on the backfoot for the first 20 minutes. Scotch had Christ Church on their try line in a vulnerable situation until a mistake was made causing a penalty which then resulting in an easy try for Christ Church. Even though silly mistakes were made and tries were let in Scotch still played hard with their heads up. In some forms of the game Scotch was definitely dominating but the lack of being able to keep the ball and leaving holes in the defence was Scotch's main weakness. At the end of the first half Scotch put on great pressure on Christ Church resulting in them giving up a penalty and Scotch then scoring our first points of the game. This lifted Scotch's spirits for the second half. Scotch came out of the second half with great attacking aggression but unfortunately couldn’t execute a try. Scotch also held Christchurch off for quite a lot of phases but Christ Church just managed to find holes or had an overlap resulting in more tries for them. Overall there were a lot of positives that came from this game even though the scoreboard wouldn’t say that, Scotch saw massive improvements from the last two previous games.
