Match Report
Guildford Grammar School 1st XV vs  Christ Church Grammar School
On: Saturday, 29 Jun 2019
Venue: at Home

On Saturday we hosted the fixture against the table leaders. In our first encounter, we started strong with solid defence for the first 15min, but Christ Church went wide and were able to score most of their tries out wide. We saw Lachlan Grime and Isaac Evans return from injury.

We battled to gain metres up the field and we played most of our own attack in our own half. Christ Church was able to beat us out wide and were able to stay on their feet, which gave them easy metres. We were able to steal a few balls off their lineouts and when the ball was slow at the breakdown we looked good in defence. Our back row worked well together.

Congratulations must go out to Nicholas Sheppard and Aidan Crummey for playing in their 20th cap and starting in every one of them.

We play Hale School on Wednesday at Hale, which gives us not much time to prepare for this game. Hale had a bye this last weekend and will be fresh for our encounter. In our last meeting we were able to defend well for the first 25min of the first half and we camped in their 22m. Hopefully, we can improve on this, next week.
