Match Report
Guildford Grammar School 1st XI vs  Christ Church Grammar School
On: Saturday, 29 Jun 2019
Venue: at Home

Not our best performance on the weekend against a pretty determined and disciplined Christchurch side.

6-0 down but the scoreline probably didn’t reflect our effort and opportunities.

Seb continues to be a consistent shot stopper in the net and is having a wonderful season. Unfortunately an area we need to improve is securing the ball after an opposition shot and helping relieve pressure from inside our circle. Christchurch had several scoring chances off second shots which is always difficult for a goalkeeper.

A move forward for Yunal almost worked wonders after he whacked a ball into the net early on. The goal was rightfully disallowed, but it was the best piece of team play I’ve seen all year. He’s been a wonderfully flexible and useful player this season, playing across the forward and midfield line whenever needed. It can only help him continue to develop and improve.

Micky switched into defence after playing the entire season as a forward so far. He was much more involved and had a few good opportunities to utilise his good stick work and calmness under pressure.

We play Hale on Tuesday in a game we may welcome back Hamish Adamson and Joe Cappon, in which case we would have our full strength side for the first time since about round 3.

Loving the support of the parents each week, and although the boys haven’t been happy with their last few games, I am optimistic about the remaining matches this year. We continue to grow and learn each and every week.

Go guildford!
