Match Report
Tonbridge School 1st XI vs  Hurstpierpoint College
On: Saturday, 18 Mar 2017
Venue: Away

We saved our best performance in terms of quality to last and so set up a great celebratory mood for the dinner. Hurst were tired having just won the Sussex Cup which showed but took nothing away from the quality of our passing and skills. We conceded early, against the run of play but stuck to our game plan with great results. Goals from Charlie and Dan gave us a deserved lead and then as half time approached Dan again from close range after a slick series of passes and then a wonder debut goal from sweeper Alex had the crowd excited, as he chuckled past three tackles down the left, passed it on, kept running and received a pass himself from Dan in the circle (yes-you read it in print!) to finish it with a controlled top corner chip. To Hurst's credit they rallied strongly in the second half and but for two amazing saves from Sam might well have have been right back in it. As it was a strong counter from Louis leading to a sharp reverse finish from Maddy provided the sucker punch. Many more attacked followed but the only goal was a calm lifted finish from Charlie which increased the grin on his and all our faces. Happy times! All those thanks and good wishes from the dinner are echoed here.We have all been part of something special.
