Match Report
Tonbridge School 1st XI vs  Eton College
On: Saturday, 11 Mar 2017
Venue: Away

This was a tough game against determined and effective opposition, most notable for Dan not scoring a goal! Maddy gave us an early advantage after a well worked free hit. This was soon cancelled by their first foray into our circle which resulted in a flick as forward/keeper and Phil coincided. Julian then finished a good move down the left sharply with almost his first touch of the game. In the meantime the keeper proved too much of a barrier and the goal too small as chances went astray. Committing men forward left us vulnerable to the fast breakaway which duly happened and another flick resulted from a one on one with Sam - which he duly saved.

The second half was hard fought with plenty of blood and knocks to show on both sides. They equalized on another break with good combination and a decent finish. We admirably stepped up a gear and scored again through Maddy with a semi rehearsed short passed left and the a very fine goal from the tireless skipper rounded it off, amid Dan's valiant attempts to get that goal.

All in all a performance of character and resilience on a day when pitch/light/ timing/injury and all those other indefinable margins were not quite right for us.
