Match Report
Stowe School Boys-U15B vs  Oundle School
On: Saturday, 07 Oct 2017
Venue: at Home

Stowe came up against a much tougher test this week and eventually came second to a defensively more secure Oundle side. Still, there were many superb elements in their performance and 34-24 was a fair reflection of the sides at the end of the game. Oundle started the game well while Stowe took 15 minutes to establish their defensive organisation. In this time Oundle scored two quick tries to put Stowe behind 12-0. Once Stowe got some possession, their attacking prowess started to show and excellent handling by the back gave Adam McKelvey the space to race over from 40 metres. Freddie Would added the conversion to make it 12-7. The game progressed evenly from that point, with the team in possession of the ball tending to make inroads. Oundle had some big runners and scored another two tries, another excellent McKelvey try in the corner was Stowe's riposte to finish the half 24-17. The second half progressed similarly to the closing of the first half, with both teams equally dangerous in attack with Oundle perhaps slightly tighter in defense. Two Oundle tries were balanced by a powerful short range effort from Garret O'Keefe, Max Vestey adding the extras and then a hat-trick for McKelvey finished the scoring. The game ended with a defensive stand by Stowe to hold Oundle to 34, and the game finished 34-24. An excellent attacking performance with the first 15 minutes ultimately the difference between the sides.
