Match Report
Berkhamsted School Boys-U15A vs  Bedford Modern School
On: Saturday, 11 Oct 2014
Venue: Away

It was a pleasing afternoon’s work away at Bedford Modern, in a game played in better conditions than we were originally thinking. With five players being rested, it gave us a chance to move things around and try some new things out. Milton and Fennell gained their first A-Team starts, both putting in sound performances. Fennell who was the C-Team Captain last season, at times looked like a standout player with his fierce tackling and work at the breakdown. The game was one way traffic from the start, with us scoring 6 tries before half time, but to be fair to Bedford they kept on going throughout. They did sneak a reward just before half-time, which we really only have ourselves to blame for being caught sleeping leading into a 34-5 score line.

The second half there was little difference with the flow of traffic. We were annoyed how we had let in such an easy score which to the boy’s credit meant that Bedford didn’t even enter our half in the second half. Richardson opened the scoring in the second half to grab his well taken hat trick (which he later added a further two scores to add to his tally). Lewis grabbed two before having to leave the field which was the first time in four games he hasn’t managed to grab 3!

It was very positive to see we have some depth in our squad which will now start to put some competition on for starting positions. Next up is Haileybury on Thursday who we lost to in the County Cup last year!
