Match Report
Berkhamsted School 3rd XV vs  St Paul's School, Barnes
On: Saturday, 10 Dec 2011
Venue: at Home

The final game of the year was always going to be a cracker, and thats exactly what it turned out to be. Berkhamsted started the game a little nervously and soon found themselves behind, thanks to some poor tackling from our backs, which gave St Pauls the opportunity to score into the corner. Thankfully, as the first half continued Berkhamsted found their feet and started to play some lovely rugby. This was wonderfully demonstrated when Tom Egerton-King on the twenty two metre line sold a sensational dummy to his opposite number and took the ball under the posts. This gave Berkhamsted a well-deserved 7-5 lead at half time.

Berkhamsted started the second half extremely well and should have added to their lead on a number of occasions. But as the game went on St Pauls started to play the smarter rugby and Berkhamsted struggled with their decision making. The pressure finally told with St Pauls scoring in the corner after a fumble in our backs. This meant Berkhamsted lost the game 10-7, a sad way to finish an excellent season, as on balance of play Berkhamsted were the better side.

I would like to thank everyone who has represented the 3rd XV this year; the commitment of the players has been excellent. Also special mention must go to Mr Dight, Mr Charnock and Mr Mow
ay for the time, energy and expertise they have offered all season. I hope that the Year 13s continue to play and enjoy their rugby in the future and look forward to working with a number of year 12s again next year.

Mr G. R. A. Campbell
