Match Report
Berkhamsted School 3rd XV vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 10 Dec 2016
Venue: Away

The last game of the season saw the 3rd XV beat a robust Haileybury side. They were powerful up front and had a dangerous full back. It was a scrappy game in many ways and the penalty count soon got into double figures. Berkhamsted seemed to be in their own half for much of the first half but managed to score twice through the pace of Curliss and Gilhooley. How fortunate we have been to have such speed in the back line. The second half saw the conditions worsen and thus handling was pretty difficult but the XV scored another two tries. Ben Moore deservedly scored his first try of the season and Ben Hillier managed to apply downward pressure to score the fourth. Haileybury, rallied in the last few minutes of the game but the lads defended with resilience and courage. All in all, a well deserved victory to finish off a rewarding season in so many ways. The player of the season could have gone to a number of boys; this was such a hard decision to make but in the end I went for Tom Bull. He did not play rugby in Year 12 and was a B/C XV player in Year 11. He decided to give the game another go and he has just got better and better and his attitude has never faltered. All credit to him. Credit to all the 34 boys who have represented the 3rd XV. It has been such a productive and enjoyable season. Thank you.
