Match Report
Hurstpierpoint College U15 vs  St Benedict's School, Ealing
On: Thursday, 09 Dec 2004
Venue: Away

St. Benedict's started at a tremendous pace, showing good technical ability at the ruck, straight running and slick handling. Hurst were put under terrific pressure for the whole of the first half, hardly venturing into the opposition half of the pitch. Tackle after tackle was made and every member of the Hurst team showed commitment and courage to withstand wave after wave of attacks. After missing an early penalty St. Benedict's eventually scored to go 5-0 up. More and more pressure led to another try and at half time Hurst were 12-0 down but still very much in the game.
Hurst started the second half brightly and began to secure some ball and exert some pressure but all too often St. Benedict's moved the ball quickly out wide and made significant yardage. The last fifteen minutes saw them run in three further tries with the Hurst players still putting in the tackles but exhausted by the monumental defensive effort of the first half.
The Hurst boys showed passion in their performance and they did themselves and the College proud. To get to the last 16 of the Daily Mail Cup has been a remarkable achievement and the boys should feel no shame in losing to this very talented and powerful St. Benedict's side.
