Match Report
Haileybury Boys - XV vs  Felsted School
On: Saturday, 16 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

This was a real nail biter. Haileybury started like a train and took a 10-0 lead courtesy of a Yunosuke Shimizu try and a penalty and conversion from Sam Cappaert. The home side could have stretched their lead further but were guilty of failing to capitalise on good attacking opportunities. Felsted were strong at set-piece and used this to edge themselves back into the game with a penalty try from a driving maul and a penalty to make it 10-10 at half time.

Felsted's line-out was superb and they caused the home team problems and didn't allow them to establish any attacking momentum. Felsted got another long range penalty just after half time to take a 13-10 lead. Both teams defended strongly and cancelled each other out but Haileybury scored next with a penalty try of their own from a driving line-out. The game was end to end and with both teams making mistakes it was the visitors who capitalised by scoring the next score to make it 20-17. It was fiercely competitive and Haileybury had a spell late in the second half where they were battering the visitors line but were held up over the line on a couple of occasions. Credit must go to Felsted for their resolute defence. From the last line-out of the game the home side had a chance to take the spoils but couldn't quite manage it. An excellent victory for Felsted to avenge last years defeat in this derby fixture.
