Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U16A vs  St John's School, Leatherhead
On: Saturday, 10 Dec 2016
Venue: Away

A very disappointing end to a good season. Epsom started well and went ahead with a well worked set piece try by Palmer (H). Towards the end of the first half the team came under pressure from a good St. John's pack but defended well and a good break out from Epsom’s own 22 almost led to a great try. However, the boys had to settle for a 7-0 lead at the interval.

Shortly into the second half confusion close to the goal line led to a score for St John’s. Very quickly Epsom got their noses in front once more thanks to a great piece of running from Oosterwyk (P). St. John's would not lie down, though and scored once more from a quick penalty. Failure to convert left Epsom just ahead. A Williams (P) penalty made the gap five points but failure to deal with the restart let to a try, converted from wide out to put the opposition ahead for the first time with less than five minutes to go. Despite a last ditch long range penalty attempt Epsom could not get a winning score and had to settle for a narrow loss. This was a tough battle throughout and the players were outstanding in their efforts and resolve. A tough defeat to take!

Tries: Palmer (H), Oosterwyk (P)

Player of the Match: Tom Williams (P)
