After only five minutes the game was halted when tragically the Austin Friars scrum half suffered a suspected broken wrist. He was clapped off as he left disconsolately. We send our best wishes. Later it is learned he is fine. The game resumed after a break of 15 minutes. Durham began moving the ball through eight pairs of hands before the last pass went forward. ought about another good run by the AF 15 and an unsuccessful drop goal attempt. AF continued to press with a back line move. Then a punt was chased to the School 5m. line where Durham won vital turnover and with a scrum on their 10m. line Pears(12) had the ball and cross kicked. The ball bounced in front of Drysdale(13) he collected it and passed to Hagen(11) on the wing and he scored.

Durham 47 Austin Friars 14.full time.

Durham had a reorganised squad with several injuries. The team created many opportunites but they often ended with an error.
Austin Friars put on a defiant display and had several prominent players. In particular the plucky youngster who took over the scrum half position.
