Match Report
King's College, Taunton 1st XV vs  Taunton School
On: Saturday, 09 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

Kings 1st made a strong start against Taunton School with forwards carrying and retaining possession well to apply pressure on their opponents. A golden chance to take the lead in the 1st half was foiled by a bone crunching tackle on fullback Toby Stone. Conditions were difficult for both teams with torrential rain greeting the start of the game and so handling proved difficult, with the error count relatively high. In spite of kings dominating the game, they were held out by some stout defence by Taunton and a 0 v 0 draw sets up a titanic battle for the full fixture later this term. The second game was played against a well organised and physically powerful Plymouth College team, where once again the wet conditions made for attritional rugby. Kings took the lead when Scum half Tom Oxland gave an inside pass to Zak Higginson who charged his way to the line. Plymouth College hit back with a converted try and so it remained as both teams tired toward the end. Overall a very productive and encouraging set of practice matches, which prepares us well for the season ahead.
