Match Report
King's College, Taunton Girls-U15B vs  Blundell's School
On: Saturday, 07 Oct 2017
Venue: at Home

King's were hosting Blundell's in a a hotly contested local fixture.

Blundell's were fastest out of the blocks, having a forward high up the pitch throughout to cause trouble as often as possible. Both teams had plenty of ball to play with, but the slightly more organised opposition had more chances to capitalise, and were able to get around star goal keeper Abi Howells to take a 1-0 in the dying seconds and into the half time break.

Some simple organisation and advice was needed, with the hope that it would facilitate more opportunities for the girls to play as well as they could. It appeared to have a reasonable effect, with far better shape and positional awareness shown by all players on the pitch. The ball was being played forwards well, with numerous visits into the opposition circle, and far more being asked of the goal keeper. Defensively, the level of tenacity was raised, though still sometimes lingering off the player carrying the ball, which gave Blundell's the chances that they needed to get shots away. The defence could only hold out for so long before another goal was scored, bringing the score to 2-0.

This is how it finished up, though all seemed more content with their second half efforts. The squads decided amongst themselves as to who played well, with Blundell's awarding their Player of the Match to Reshma Rao.

Sherborne Girls' School is the final game before Half Term, with King's looking to play themselves to success.
