Match Report
Cheadle Hulme School 1st XV vs  St Anselm's College, Birkenhead
On: Saturday, 17 Sep 2016
Venue: Away

First half was full of positives with CHS applying most of the pressure within the Anselms half. Repetitive breaks on the outside lead to CHS spending most of this half within the Anselms 22, however CHS failed to convert when in these areas. However, strong support play within the backs, in the depths of the first half lead to CHS putting points on the board. Anselms were able to respond scoring tries in quick succession from effectively using the wings and attacking into the spaces of the CHS defence, resulting in CHS trailing by a try going into the break.

CHS continued to apply this strong pressure within the second half, after a committed effort at the restart, resulting in a scrum deep inside the Anselms half. After multiple phases well inside the Anselms 22, CHS were able to convert by scoring a try – highlighting the hard work that both forwards and backs had made at the start of the second half. Anselms then looked to apply some pressure back and were awarded a penalty within the CHS half, which was converted with CHS trailing going into the final 15 minutes of the game. CHS continued to apply pressure on a strong Anselms defence, however CHS were able to find a way through. The final score 19-14 to St. Anselms.
