Match Report
The Manchester Grammar School 1st XV vs  Bolton School Boys Division
On: Wednesday, 11 Jan 2017
Venue: Away

A safe passage into the semi final of the Lancashire Cup was achieved with a comfortable win over a very plucky Bolton School. Played in really tough conditions with a howling gale causing havoc to every pass, kick and line out Mgs managed 9 tries. Bolton had the upper hand possession wise in the first half but failed to capitalise on some good opportunities. Each time Mgs had an attack they seemed to score. The game plan was simple and some of our execution of basic overlaps and 2 on 1 situations was excellent. With several regular players unavailable this was an opportunity for a number of boys to step up and experience 1st team rugby, Tom Pye had a number of strong runs from number 8, Elijah Lee showed his promise in the front row, Rob Jones impressed in the second row particularly in his loose play and Luke McCreath showed his versatility playing at both scrum half and full back during the second half.

Stonyhurst await in the semi final in what promises to be a fantastic game.

Man of the Match: Jacob Shovlin and Ciaran Connolly.
