Wilmslow faced Wirral Grammar in their first fixture of their tough run up to Christmas, with an undefeated streak to protect Wilmslow knew they were in for a tough game. Wilmslow started the game well and scored an early try through Lloyd Rosser who jinked his way past a couple of the Wirral defenders to score near the posts, Wilmslow scored again soon after this time through Jordan Kennedy, with Wilkinson converting both tries the score was 14-0. After this the game evened itself up and Wirral started fighting back, Wilmslow''s discipline let them down again in this game and it allowed Wirral to get their first points of the game from a successful penalty kick. After this the game was even again with both teams battling it out in midfield, another score for Wilmslow through fly half Olly Wilkinson who converted to make the halftime score 21-3.
Wilmslow came out for the second half in a strong position; Wirral started the better side and put pressure on Wilmslow right from the kick off. After quite a slow second half Wilmslow managed to score through full back Matt Toole who picked up a cross-field kick form Wilkinson, the score was now 26-3 with Wirral looking dead and buried. Wilmslow let off and Wirral sniffed a slight chance, and they managed to score 2 tries before the game was finished. The final score was 26-15 to Wilmslow.
A pleasing result for Wilmslow but a performance that needs to be built on if they want to come through their tough run of games still with an undefeated record.
