Match Report
Wisbech Grammar School Boys-U15A vs  CAARS Grammar
On: Saturday, 09 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

The match began in good fashion and it was clear that the WGS pack were out to prove a point in the loose. The rucks and mauls were well fought and whilst the ball was kept tight it seemed that the U15XV would do well. Unfortunately when the ball was spun wide we were found wanting, this coupled with the team taking a while to shake off their ring rust in the first game of the season meant that CAARS were pulling away early on. Despite this there was a concerted effort to get back into the game. Some excellent picking and driving coupled with repeated infringements from an opposition unable to cope with WGS's route one play led to a try mid way through the half from Joe Reed. WGS had two further chances where Will Gilbert found himself in the try area but a lack of support meant that he was unable to get the ball grounded. After half time the order was restored and CAARS continued to stretch the score line out. WGS would hit back again in similar fashion to their previous effort. This time Jamie Salas Brown scored his first try for the school. The U15XV showed great heart in this match and remained positive and united in the face of a CAARS team who were playing well executed rugby. This week they will need to work on their structure and tackling in order to show more of their true potential against Wellingborough.
