Match Report
Bloxham School 1st XV vs  Magdalen College School
On: Saturday, 09 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

Bloxham’s 2017 rugby season opened with a typically competitive fixture against MCS Oxford. The home side overcame a disastrous start, conceding two tries in the first five minutes, to secure a nerve-biting 17-15 victory. Toby Stavely Parker kicked a difficult penalty with the last play of the game to gain the win. Earlier, excellent tries by Henry Hopkins just before half time and the strong-running Percy Hunt with less than ten minutes to go enabled Bloxham to take the lead, only for Magdalen to go ahead once more through a penalty, before Staveley Parker stepped up for the winning kick under massive pressure. This was a game of two very different halves, with heavy rain and wind in the first and bright sunshine in the second, and a great win for a very young Bloxham side, up against a well marshalled and experienced MCS side.
