Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead 1st XV vs  Tonbridge School
On: Tuesday, 10 Oct 2017
Venue: at Home

Yesterday the First 15 were looking to bounce back from Saturdays disapointment v RGS Guildford.

With clear plans in place, and a focus for the boys things started very well, with 2 quick tries from clever kicking and putting Tonbridge under pressure, the first one from Will Sanders and the second top Captain Jordan Bond. A lone penalty to Tonbridge showed our first 20 minute dominance.

Queue a short period of lapse in concentration allowed Tonbridge back into the game with 2 tries. The first from a very good kick from Oliver Penfold to be let down with the chase, and the second from a simple missed 1 on 1 tackle from a lineout move. The half closed at 20-20 and all to play for.

The second half showed some signs that Tonbridge were getting on top, with a well worked lineout drive putting them in front early, but after this the resolve on defence, and the ability to turn turnovers in attack showed why we are one the most dangerous teams around. A hugo Coughlin intercept put us back in front 27-25

A hugo Coughlin intercept put us back in front 27-25, then a second from both Will Sanders and Jordan Bond put the game out of reach going into the final 10 minutes.

Some maturity was shown to wind down the clock and control the game. When the final whistle blew the score was 39-25. Well deserved, and showed when all are playing for each other the results can be success.
