Today’s game started with St John’s conceeding a penalty and 3 points straight from the kick off. After the slow start the players stepped up a gear and after some great work by the forwards Captain Jack Musk scoring near the posts for Hugo Coughlin to convert.

Haileybury struck back from a simple pick off the base of the scrum to make it 10-10 after 20 minutes.

The Haileybury forward pack continued to make in roads to the St John’s defence line and after a lengthy passage of play scored a well taken try witch was converted to make it 10-17 nearing the halftime break. Haileybury again got into the attacking half of St John’s but from some good pressure turned defence into attack and a brilliant breakout from the backs, into the 22 for Jack Potter to score on the left edge. 15-17 halftime.

The second half keep more of the same, a physical arm wrestle. A brilliant break from Jack Potter came to a near Miss in the left corner and again some moment Hugo Coughlin going close in the right, with both chances missed Haileybury countered with one of their own, that lifted the Home side to finish the stronger. A late try gave a comfortable margin of 15-31 to the hosts.
