St John's School, Leatherhead 1st XV vs  Hurstpierpoint College
On: Saturday, 30 Sep 2017
Venue: Away

today the first 15 played against Hurstpierpoint. From the first kickoff a mistake on our 22 meter line cost us a seven-pointer, not the ideal start but after that initial error we got into gear and work out hurst defence was pressing hard and very narrow. Some great decision-making getting forwards to run straight and hard at the defence created chances for our backs which they gladly took. After missing 3/4 other good opportunities to score we went in at 28-7 to halftime.

After halftime we started well and controlled territory with some good kicking. We couldn't get our hands on the ball and had to defend for long periods of time. Which we fronted up time and time again. Only after a sin bun for Tom Davison did we eventually succumb to Hurst pressure.

The home side attacked with all their energy and managed to pull another one back, and after again and again repelling their efforts to score again the referee finally blew his whistle for the last time. A huge win for St John's 28-21
