Yesterday afternoon, the Year 8 cricket team's unbeaten run of 14 games (competitive) came to an end against Shirley High School. Batting first the boys posted a reasonable 108-4 (K. Ashaye 25, H. Jennings 14*). The score was slightly below par, but could have been a lot worse had it not been for some fantastic running from the aforementioned players). In response, our players were given a master class from a Surrey representative who opened for Shirley. He built his innings fantastically, not giving a chance of dismissal until he climbed into a wide ball from Max Lyons-Donegan and was superbly caught by Tom Hall in the covers. It was a little too late, as Shirley needed 12 runs from 15 balls, and chased the runs with 5 balls to spare.
