King's College, Taunton U15A XV vs  Bristol Grammar School
On: Saturday, 07 Oct 2017
Venue: at Home

The U15As overcame another challenge today when defeating a useful Bristol Grammer Team on the much bigger First XV pitch.

The first 10 minutes saw King's dominate with the bigger pitch allowing for the pace of the back line to expose Bristol Grammer on the flanks despite passing the ball too laterally at times. This led to an opening try via a move starting wide on the right with Billy Turner finishing in the opposite left corner.

With the bigger pitch testing the work rate of the forward pack it was Ethan Jordaan and Jago Schmidt who seemed to appear everywhere whether making ground themselves or preventing the Bristol pack from advancing.

With the first half coming to an end King's yet again showed the improvement they have made in defending their 5 metre line when holding off one of many challenging driving mauls to allow for a 7-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw many similar patterns in play with Bristol having a lot of possession but a resilient King's defence proving too difficult to break down with the exception of one try for the opposition due to an accumulation of missed tackles. This was however after King's had taken a 14-0 lead due to a disrupted ruck creating a foot race for a loose ball which was ceased upon by Captain Michael Bray.

With the scores at 14-7 King's gained a penalty in front of the posts in which Sonny Baker topped off a fine kicking display to secure victory.

A new experience on a much larger pitch has shown many physical strengths of this side but also given areas to work on before Ivybridge on Thursday.
