Match Report
King's College, Taunton 1st XV vs  Prior Park College
On: Saturday, 16 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

Kings inaugural block fixture with Prior Park from Bath saw an epic game at 1st XV level. Kings started like a rabbit in headlights, failing to field the first kick off and conceding a try shortly afterwards. Some elementary errors in possession of the ball hampered Kings efforts to gain momentum in the game. Prior Park capitilised well on these early nerves to score 3 tries and leave Kings with a tough road back, trailing 19 v 5 at halftime, a Zak Higginson try late consolation for a disappointing half.

Kings finally found their confidence in the second half after a long range intercept try from Josh Whitemore lifted morale. What followed was a sustained period of dominance where the team retained the ball well in attack and clawed their way back into the game. The pressure told with tries from Tom Oxland and Zak Higginson giving Kings a slender lead. With the game entering the final stages, Prior park scored a dramatic try in the corner to level the scores. In the dying stages, Kings had a chance to clinch the game but lost possession just yards from the opposition try line. Overall a thrilling game with a dramatic comeback by Kings and no little courage and effort from both teams.

MOM: Zak Higginson
