Match Report
King's College, Taunton Senior Development Squad vs  Downside School
On: Saturday, 16 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

A thrilling game on Saturday resulted in a victory for Kings 1st against Downside which reversed the loss experienced in the away fixture last year.

We started the game well with the majority of possession but rarely threatened the Downside goal and then conceded a goal after they hit the post. Half time saw three tactical changes as Harry Dray, Siji Abere and Harry Geddes were introduced.

A sloppy piece of play resulted in Downside scoring their second and presented the boys with an uphill battle being 2 down . This was a task they took to with great spirit with Tenny Harlow scoring a header from Siji's corner to reduce the deficit. However Downside responded with a third and King's found themselves trailing with time running out.

It is in these situations that character and resilience is tested to the full and the King's boys did not disappoint showing a positive attitude and desire to get something from the game.

A tactical switch for Ekaitz Garcia Sotto (AK to his team mates) switching from Centre half to Centre forward and providing a further challenge for Downside which they found difficult to contain. Goals from Siji and two from AK gave the boys a memorable victory .

An extremely good advert for the game and credit must go to all players who featured in the match.

However, man of the day must go to Will Smale who after getting over the disappointment of not being in the squad for this match proceeded to turn up and support his teammates and then volunteered to run the line for the duration of the match, outstanding commitment and support, a lesson for all.
